Tsubame City’s development as a heart of metal production industry stemmed from a wide array of metal processing techniques such as forging, rolling, pressing, and polishing. In recent years, however, there has been more and more intense competition from other Asian countries, which has led to a considerable reduction in the number of offices and employees within the metal polishing business. If this decline continues, the metal processing industry will decrease in size and scale and it’s possible that production areas will weaken and go into decline.
For this reason, Tsubame City established the Tsubame City Migakiya Ichibankan (Polishing Building Number One) in order to nurture successors of the metal polishing industry, to encourage and support startup entrepreneurs, to promote production centers through advances in technology, and also to spread metal polishing techniques through hands-on training.
